Senses Practices


Sound

  • Noticing sounds in the room (just listen or make a list of all the sounds you hear)

  • Listening to sounds (inside of yourself, outside of yourself)

  •  Following the sound of chimes/singing bowl/bell/gong (live or recorded)

  • Listening to nature sounds, instrumental music



Visual

  •  Noticing objects in the room based on color (find something red, etc)

  • Noticing objects in the room based on shape (find something circular, etc)

  • Noticing objects in the room based on location (notice something on the floor, wall, ceiling)

  • Notice and observe something in the room that interests you (notice the colors, shapes, designs, textures)

  • I spy (name specific objects to be found in the room)

  • Watching what is happening outside the window

  • Looking at images/scenes/art, watching videos with imagery

  • Observing a chosen object (notice the colors, shapes, designs, textures)



All Senses

  • Mindful eating (see, feel, smell, taste what you are eating)
